Patio and Bike Season

Good morning Teaspoons,

I’m really the worst at being consistent on this blog lately!

Little update:  Last week, I gained 1.8 pounds and this week, I lost 0.6 pounds.  I’m yo-yoing a lot lately and I know exactly why:  I’m not writing down what I eat and with the nice weather, I’m drinking a little more alcohol then usual (hello patio season!).

This said I’m still not discouraged.  I’m still running 3 times a weeks (I’m now at 10 minutes run + 5 minutes walk + 10 minutes run).  All I need to do now is track EVERYTHING (even my drinks) and I should start losing again.

My friend Sarah was over for a visit and she was telling me that one of her friend lost over 70 pounds and started going to the gym and even bought herself a bicycle to get around town!  I’m so very proud of you Emilie!!! Good job girl!!! Keep going!  You will get to your goal!  I’m sure of it.  Her goal is to lose 5 pounds in the next two weeks! Go Emilie GO! Get those legs moving and that healthy eating going.

I get super excited when people take their weight into their own hands and start seeing results.  I know how hard it is.  The scale goes up and down and your emotions all around but you have to keep in mind why you are living a healthier life and why you it’s worth doing all these sacrifices.

Till next time (hopefully sooner than later), keep your head up and do like Emilie, get your bike out!  I'm going to get my baby out this weekend!
                                                               Here's my baby! ;)

Just Keep Swimming

Good evening teaspoons!

Holly Molly I haven't written in ages!!! I'm soooo sorry!!!!

So here's an update!
I'm still running three times a week! After 3 and a half weeks of running, of drinking 2 litres of water a day, of watching what I eat and of completely cutting out carbs at lunch time, I finaly lost some weight! Yay me! I lost 2.4 pounds this week that I don't wish to see ever again on my body!!!

Here's a pic of me running in the rain a fee weeks ago and then one of today's run! I'm red as heck but means I'm working hard!!

How are YOUR weight loss journey going? Give me some news :)

Easter Weekend

Good morning Teaspoons!

It's Friday morning and I'm still lounging in bed... Why am I not working you ask? Because it's Good Friday! I'm looking foward to the long weekend and my parents visiting but I'm really scared about my diet taking a hit. For tonight, I've prepared a huge lasagna. I know, not the best choice. I'm planning on pairing it with a green healthy salad instea of the usually creamy (fatning) ceaser salade. I'm going to try to resist taking a big piece of lasagna and only take a small one and fill the rest of my plate with salad. I'm still going to have a glass of wine but not go overboard. And finaly, I'm going to go running today to have extra points.
Tomorrow, I'm making chicken so that should be alright. And then my dad is making a huge ham on Sunday. All this food in such a short weekend. I just have to be smart at breakfast and lunch and make good healthy choices. I also have to remind myself why I'm doing all of this.

On that, have a GREAT Easter Teaspoons!!!!

On The Run Again

Good evening Teaspoons!

I started running again! Now that the good weather is finaly here and there's less wind (since I now live in the woods), I finaly convinced myself to lace up my shoes! So hopefully, in 10 weeks, I'll be able to run 5K! I never did a 5K before but came close to it. So I'm going to try it again!

                  Yay! The sun is here!
                  Let's stretch and run!

Snowed In!

Good day Teaspoons!

Sorry about my absence last night: our electricity went out around 4 pm and we only got it back this morning around 10 am.

Weight-in went better than I anticipated. I gained 0.6 pounds. I thought I would of gained much more because I feel so tight in my pants. This said, I'm not happy with myself. In the last two weeks, I have gained a total of 1.8 pounds. It's so crazy how fast we can gain wait but how much time it takes to lose it again!!

But hey! I'm back on track since Tuesday. We are moving today but I'm still going to try my best to make smart choices in between emptying boxes.

How did your weight-in go?
We had quite a storm yesterday! Here's a picture of the car with the snow!

Till next time, keep warm my Teaspoons!

Awesome New Recipe!

Good day Teaspoons!

One good thing about being on a diet? You try to find new recipes that are tasty but low in point plus value! Yes I've tried lots of recipes who just didn't make the cut! However, here's one that hits the mark! It's easy to make and easy on the points ;) I made it with one cup of rice noodles so calculated 5 pts for the noodles, 3 points for 2 oz. of beef and 2 points for the broth (I estimated here). It's super tasty because of all the herbs and spices! Give it a try :)

Enjoy!

Little Update

Good evening!

Little little fast update: had a great weekend! Saturday, went to a friend's house where we had fondu. We only had chicken, shrimps and veggies so it was a lean meal. On sunday, I went out for brunch with my boyfriend and resisted bacon! Yay me! Had a beautiful omelette! It was yummy!

I'm happy to say that since last Wednesday, I've drank two litres of water every.single.day. This is a huge improvement for me because I never used to drink any water. We'll see in two days if it will makes a difference on the scale. I'm really happy with myself because I tracked all week. The only thing left to do is to start working out again! I know I can do it but I find that I'm having a hard time convincing myself to workout now that I arrive later from work than before because we moved ( so im further from work). I should still make place in my day for exercising. I keep thinking of my friend Melissa who exercises at 10 pm at night after her daughter is in bed! If she can do it at 10pm, I can certainly do it at 8pm!

Even though I've been doing really well this week, I don't expect much from the scale on Wednesday. I've been having bad habits lately so I know that it will take more then one week of staying on track to see results! I'm motivated to continue!!

Till next time, keep on tracking!

Lunch With Friends

Good evening Teaspoons!

I was in meeting all day so let me tell you, I'm happy to be home! Today I went to lunch with a friend of mine. We went to a brewery so I knew there were going to serve pub style food.

I choose something that I would like (because no one wants to pay for food they don't really like but that have a lesser point value), but that wouldn't be too many points. I stayed away from the foods with the words "buttery", "creamy" and "cheezy".  I had an awesome chicken and bacon panini with curry mayo and fries. I took one side of the bread off and put it aside. I ate the panini before the fries so I wouldn't eat as many fries. All in all, I estimated that the sandwich and fries were 18 points.

Because I had already ate 22 points, I made myself a HUGE salad for supper. I added an egg for protein and made my own dressing. My salad was 5 pts.

HUGE salad I had for supper!

So I guess it is possible to eat out while on a diet! :) You just have to be wise about it. Now I'm relaxing with my 2 litres of water and a movie.

Have a great weekend y'all!

Trying My Hardest!

Good evening Teaspoons!

I'm at the end of another day of this weight loss journey and I keep telling myself "one day at a time" and "slow and steady wins the race". I'm not dwelling on the mistakes I made yesterday or the week before but instead, I'm looking foward to the days to come.

I've had a great day today. I counted everything I ate and I feel great about it. I even drank the recommended 2 litres of water (which I almost never do)!

Tomorrow, I'm going to lunch with a friend. I'm going to make the best choices I can at the restaurant and I'm already planing on eating a good, healthy, low in points salad for supper so I won't go over my point allowance.

Hopefully tomorrow will go as well as today!

Another Week, Another Loss.

Good Day Teaspoons!

Another weight in, another loss! Yay!
Lost a pound this week which really surprised me! Although I'm quite happy about the loss, I'm not happy about how I ate this week. I didn't count my points and didn't do portion control.

This week, I vow to calculate and write down everything I eat. Even if I go over my points, I will still write it down. That's the only way I can be aware of what I put in my mouth.

Soooooo happy coffee isn't any points!

So here's to another week towards a better self!

Tuesday 1 April 2014

All Moved In

Good evening Teaspoons!

I finally got the Internet at the new place hooked up! It's so pretty here by the lake! Can't wait for the good weather to get here so I can throw the kayaks in the water and do some exercise. Unfortunately, Mother Nature is not cooperating. We had another snow day today. So what did I do? I made a sugar pie... Like really? Why oh why do I make sugar pies if I'm trying to lose weight? And it's not as if I kept on track all week. Oh no sir! I had family visiting this weekend so we ate and drank (cuz that's what we do when we're all together). Therefore, I'm expecting bad results on the scale tomorrow morning. Hopefully this week, I'll keep to my guns and follow WW.

Here's a pic of me in the sun having coffee last Saturday (only day we saw the sun in the last week).

Till tomorrow, keep tracking!

Tuesday 25 March 2014

Time To Hop Back On Track!

Good day Teaspoons,

I know, I know! I haven't been very present lately! I need a good slap on the hand! I'm super sorry about my absence and I won't be making any excuses today.  I'm even going to tell the truth: I've been going completely off track lately.  Since my detox, it seems like I just can't and won't control myself when it comes to food.  We had friends over last weekend and I bought a bunch of veggies and had my food scale out, ready to weight whatever I wanted to put in my mouth, but didn't use it. I'm the only one to blame.  I know better but I am just not doing what I know I should be doing, which is keep track of what I eat and exercise.

So weight-in day is just around the corner.  I know that   I will have gained quite a few pounds in the last two weeks because that's the price you pay when you go off track.  What to do now? I can either cry about it and feel bad about myself or use it as a new start and hop back on track.  I prefer the second option.  So here's to a new start! Ordered myself a salad for lunch today because frankly, I don't need to wait until weight-in to have a fresh start!

I will definitely write on here more often since you guys motivate me to make better choices and to continue on this journey.  I owe you all big THANKS because obviously, I can't do it on my own (the last two weeks are a proof of it).

Till tomorrow, keep your head high and hop back on track if you've also had a hard time lately.  It's NEVER too late!

Mister stress is here!

Mister stress is here and he's trying to push me off track! I'm in the middle of moving houses and there's so many things to think about that tracking seems to be the last thing on my mind! Crazy how life can sometimes trow you off your game!

Good thing I have you guys to remind me to stay on track! Melissa wrote two comments in my blog tonight and it motivated me to write again after almost 5 days of absence! Thanks Mel!

This said, I still wrote in my tracker what I ate but did eat little bites here and there and made some bad choices. At lease I recognize them and know what I have to change in order to continu to lose weight!
We'll see tomorrow what the scale says!

Till then, keep on exercising and tracking!

Detox Day 3

Good day teaspoons!

Third day of the detox. It was also weight-in day. I lost 2.6 pounds this week. I'm not jumpin for joy because I know that I will be gaining it again after the detox but that's ok. I'm feeling healthy and learning a new way to eat so that's good. It shows me that I AM capable of following a diet and staying on track! Here's my breakfast this morning! They were called "love pancakes"! Not bad for vegan food ;)

Detox Day 4

Good evening teaspoons!

Last day of the detox tomorrow! I have to say the truth and let you all know how tired I am of the tahini sauce I have to put in almost every dish. I can't even smell it anymore! Wish I knew what I could replace it with. Any ideas? (Tahini is basically a sesame butter). If you do, please leave them in the comment box below.

On a brighter note, for lunch I had to make sushi but instead of rice, I used cauliflower and quino. It was really good! Here's a picture of it!

I'm still happy that I'm following this detox to the T and am doing my best to stay healthy! Hope you are staying on track too!

Tuesday 11 March 2014

Detox Day Two

Good evening Teaspoons,

Day two of my detox. It went well! I didn't imagine I would handle going vegan so well. This said, I don't think I could be vegan all the time. Five days, I can do. More, I'm not sure I could! I will therefore most definitely continue with WW after these five days. I must say that it's good to not eat carbs. This detox is showing me option to carbs, like cauliflower rice for exemple.
Here's what I had for supper tonight! It was the best recipe of the detox until now.

Red pepper stuffed with tofu, coriander, carrots, quinoa, cauliflower rice, zucchini, garlic, drizzled with lemon and balsamic vinegar. It was really good! I ate it with a glass of gazified water with mint and raspberries in it to add some taste.

How is your week going? Let me know in the comment box below!

March Break

March break is here! And already, I've been having a hard time staying on track. I had an all girls weekend. When we get together, we always do it around food. I did not weight anything or tracked anything. I'm quite disappointed in myself. But today, I'm back on track! Doing a detox to try to get rid of all my toxines. It's not easy! I'm already craving salt!!! It's only for 5 days. I CAN DO THIS! How is your march break going/went?

Till tomorrow, keep on tacking! :)

March Break Is Just Around The Corner

Good day Teaspoons!

March break is coming up and scaring me ALOT!! I'm going home for 4 days and I already have a packed agenda where food is sure to be present! Tomorrow night, we're having a movie night with the girls. On the menu are nacho chips and pizza dips. Saturday night, we are having a few drinks at a friends house. I'm going to try to limit myself to one drink but it will take alot of will power since I haven't seen my friends in a long time so I'm going to feel like celebrating I'm sure. Sunday, I'm having friends over for a brunch. I'm going to make oatmeal, along with other things, in order to try to stay on track.

I'm really going to do my best since I've been putting alot of effort in this journey till now.

How is your journey going? Let me know in the comment box below! I love hearing from you!

Wait And See

Good day Teaspoons!

Weight-in day tomorrow! What's it gona be? We'll have to wait and see! I must admit that I will be quite disappointed if I don't lose the pound I wanted to lose this week since I did one to two 30 minutes workout per day. I didn't skip one day! So let's see what the scale says tomorrow! Hopefully I'd will have reach my weekly goal of one pound!

Stay tuned...

Leftovers Nightmare

Good evening Teaspoons,

Argh!!! I can't stop eating little random bites! It's frustrating me! There's some leftover noodles on the counter and I can't seem to stop eating little bites! So I told the leftovers (yes out loud) "you won't win! I'm not eating any more noodles!" I might seem crazy, but hey, if it works, why not!

Hope you're doing better than me at staying on track!

Weekend Success!

Good day Teaspoons!
Well I did it! I went to my friend's house for supper on Saturday night and only went over my daily points allowance by 1 point and in reality, I didn't really go over my points because I had done two workouts on Saturday so I had some exercise points stored up that I could use. In order to stay on track, I ate some yogurt with fruits before going so I wouldn't be too famished when I got there and I said I would bring dessert. I brought frozen yogurt with fresh raspberries. It was a perfect way to end a great supper! I allowed myself one and a half glasses of wine and made sure to tracked those points too! All in all, it went really well and I had a great time with great friends! Thanks Paula and Pat!

           Yogurt with fruits and oats

I tried yoga for the first time Friday night. I was home alone so I decided to give it a try. I followed a 30mins yoga video to boost my metabolism. Since Friday, I have done it 3 times and really like it! It's fun to try new things sometimes. That way, you don't get bored of the same routine!

Hope you all had a great weekend my friends! Time to cook a healthy supper!

Supper With Friends

Good evening Teaspoons!

Last night, my friend texted me to invite me for supper this coming Saturday. While I was texting that I wouldn't go because I didn't want to jeopardize my diet, I decided to scrap that text and response that yes, I would go! I decided that I wasn't going to be a hermit because I was on a diet. I don't want to miss out on some fun because I'm on Weight Watchers. Plus, I need to learn how to control myself around food and when out of my comfort zone! So here's to learning how to survive a supper with friends without going off track! I'm definitely going to do a good workout before going, so that way, I'll have a little leg room!

I'll let you know on Sunday how it all went down!

Another Pound Bites The Dust

Good day Teaspoons!

I'm super happy to tell you that I've lost another 1.4 pounds this week for a total of 15 pounds since January 6th (and 75 pounds since the very first time I joined Weight Watchers back in 2012).  I have another 17 pounds to lose to be at the weight where I want to be.  It might not be the same goal as other people would want me to have, but it's a weight that I'm comfortable with and that's what counts!

I'm also happy to announce that I did it!  I found one reason WHY I was doing this whole process every day last week.  It helped me get motivated for sure!

Here's a Ted Talk that I listened to the other night.  I'm not necessarily buying everything she's saying (we can all have our own opinions), but I did like the bit at the end where she talks about accepting yourself how you are and knowing that you are beautiful just the way you are, weather you are skinny, fat or at your ideal healthy weight.

Let me know how YOU did this week! :)

Yes You Can Eat That!

Tomorrow is weight-in day! I did four workouts this week and tracked my (almost) all my points (I did grab a few chips from the bag on two occasions this week). I'll let you know tomorrow how it the weight-in went!

Tips and Tricks

Good day Teaspoons!

I'm seeking ideas today! After catching the end of Queen's Latifah talk show today after my work out, I was wondering what YOU do to lose weight? They were giving some tips on the show: eat green veggies, eat citrus fruits, take pro-biotic, always have a tea tumbler with you for green tea on the go and of course, exercise. Do you have "go-to" things/tricks that you do that help you shred the pounds and/or keep healthy? Let me know in the comment box bellow!

Do YOUR Best

Good Day Teaspoons!

I was reading my friend's blog about weight loss and she was saying how hard it is to follow our good eating habits on weekends. Do you feel the same way? I sure do! We seem programmed to "let go" on weekends; let go of stress from work, let go of our good sleeping habits, let go of our exercise schedual and finally, let go of our good eating habits. Another reason why I think it's so hard on weekend it's because we aren't in our regular routine. We are out and about and are tempted to eat whatever is easiest. To avoid all of this, I try to plan what I'm going to eat on the weekend on Friday night. This way, I can plan ahead and have a clear vision of my weekend. Don't get me wrong, I usually cave in and eat a few chips. I did cave in yesterday and since I couldn't go back and "un-eat" them, I did a small workout. All this to say, try to plan ahead and don't get too frustrated if you do happen to go a little off track. Just try to do better the next day.
If you want to follow my friend's blog, here it is: http://onthewaytohealthymommy.wordpress.com

On a little side note, good job to the Canadian hockey boys for doing THEIR best and for winnings the gold at the Olympics!

I Did It!

Good evening Teaspoons!

I did it!!! I went into the City and did not go over my point limit! This morning, I took Meli's tip and made myself some oatmeal with my hotel room coffee machine. The agenda was saying we were going to have muffins and croissants at the meeting for breakfast so I made sure not to arrive hungry. Because I had ate breakfast, I took a couple of fruit and was satisfied.
For lunch, I got lucky because they were serving soup and wraps. I had to estimate the point plus value but I did my best. For supper, I made myself a little breakfast sandwich and then had a quick workout. Just goes to show: when there's a will, there's a way!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend full of happiness!

Girl In The City

Good evening Teaspoons!

Here I am in the City trying to make smart food choices. I was in a rush trying to get to the hotel tonight because I have a meeting starting in 20 minutes (yes at 8:30pm...) and didn't know what to eat. So I stopped at a sushi bar and ordered a roll of sushi. It had some spicy mayo on it so I estimated 9 points for the roll. It was really yummy. I hadn't had sushi in a long time so it satisfied my craving. I had hummus with me so I ate some and now I'm ready to go to my meeting. For tomorrow meeting, our agenda says they they will serve muffins for breakfast. I know that muffins are usually a lot of points so I brought oatmeal with me and will get some hot water from the coffee machine in the morning. I don't know what they will serve for lunch so I'm planing to eat a small supper tomorrow (eggs with toast) in order to stay on track! Stay tuned to see if I'll be able to stay on track tomorrow!

Here's a picture of the room in the beautiful downtown Westin Hotel!

The First Gain Is The Hardest

Good evening Teaspoons,

Weight-in was today. First gain in 7 weeks. I gain 0.8 pounds. I'm not discourage but a little disappointed. This said, the gain is one more reason to shift in 2nd gear and continue this whole process.

Today, my reason WHY I'm going trough this journey is to be able to feel good in the clothes I use to wear that are now too tight. I can't wait to fit in them again.

So instead of dwelling on the gain, I put my sneakers on today and did a little work out! So here's to not giving up!

Tomorrow, I have to go to Halifax for some meetings. Like last time, I'm nervous  about going off track while there. I'm going to follow my tips from last time and try to do my best in the city.

Till next time, keep your head up!

Why

Good evening Teaspoons,

As you all Know, I'm going trough this process with my good friend Melissa. Since she started Weight Watchers, she lost a whopping 25 pounds. Words can't  describe how proud I am of her. She started a blog today (you can find the web address below). She was saying how you must concentrate on WHY your going trough this whole weight loss process. I think it's a really good idea to constantly remind yourself WHY you're making all these changes in you life. My goal for the new week starting tomorrow is to write down, in my WW's tracker, one reason per day of why I'm going trough this journey. By doing this, I'm hoping to gain some motivation to continu following my plan.

Here's her blog: http://onthewaytohealthymommy.wordpress.com/

Lemme know YOUR reason for changing your life around !!

Big boned

Good day Teaspoons,

I was wondering if you are like me and sometimes get mad when people try to tell you you're chubby/fat or even skinny (for my leaner friends out there) in a "friendly" way.  They'll say stuff like "you must be big boned" or "it must run in your family".  When a person tells me something like that, I show them my very tiny wrist and tell them "no, I'm like that because I ate my way here".  This answer is usually followed by an awkward silence and they usually leave me alone after that.

When I hear comments like these ones, I feel like all my hard work isn't showing.  This is when I go back to my before picture and make a check list in my head of what has changed since the beginning of this journey. My favourite item to check off is how the way I feel about myself has change.  I now feel like I'm in charge of my own life and my weight won't dictate what I can and can not do anymore.  I'm more positive about the future and feel better in my own skin.  There's still going to be some ups and downs in this life long journey but comments like these just remind me of how I was feeling before compare to how I'm feeling now and give me the push I need to continue.  I've now decided to welcome these kinds of comments, even if I feel like people are putting emphasis on my weight, because they help me remind myself of how far I've come and how much I have to keep working at it.

Sunday, Fun Day

Happy Sunday Teaspoons,
I don't usually like Sundays: you know it's back to reality the next morning and you have to get back in the routine (lunch making, alarm setting, etc.). Today actualy turned out ok though! My (skinny) boyfriend and I woke up to a snow storm. We went outside to shovel a little which meant I got a little bit of exercise in. We then decided to go for a walk in the blizzard. Came back, ate lunch and went out again! With winds gusting at 100km/h and with rocks to hop on and off from, I came back home with rosy cheek and a elevated heart rate! Now I'm a little soar everywhere and it feels great! Who knew a stormy day wod turn out into a full day of working out? I now feel rejuvenated and ready for the week ahead!

Hope you made the best out of your weekend too!
Till tomorrow, keep on tracking!

Cupid's and Chocolate's- Day

Happy Valentine's Day Teaspoons!

Hope you had a great day!  I like to think of valentine's day as a day where you can celebrate ALL your relationships! So celebrate the love you have for your friends, your lover and your family.  Thank them for whatever makes you love them so much.  So to all my friends out there, HAPPY V-DAY!  I thank you and I love you all because you support me trough this whole process.

So enjoy yourself, drink a glass of wine and heck, take a small piece of that chocolate cake!  Just make sure to track it!  That's what's important.

Here's the cake I made today for v-day! :)

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll write again on Sunday.
Till then, keep on tracking and loving!

Squash it!

Good Day Teaspoons!

Today, I squashed my hunger with spaghetti squash! I've never had spaghetti squash before but people at work who are on WW were talking about it lately and my friend K had send me a spaghetti squash recipe. So today, I decided to make it! It was good and super easy to make! It also has a low point value since spaghetti squash is 0 Pts. I calculated the whole thing and it's about 7 pts+ for a quarter of the casserole.

INGREDIENTS

1 whole spaghetti squash
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 red pepper, diced
1 zucchini, diced
1 carrot, shredded
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tomato, diced
16 ounces tomato sauce
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Poke spaghetti squash all over with a knife and cook in the microwave for eight to 12 minutes until soft. If you don't have a microwave, place the poked squash on a baking pan and bake at 375 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes. While that's cooking, add the oil, garlic, pepper, zucchini, and carrots to a pan, cooking over medium heat.
  3. Cut the squash in half, scoop out the seeds, and with a fork, scrape the flesh from the peel. It should flake off easily in strings, resembling spaghetti. Place the spaghetti squash flesh in a casserole dish. Add the cooked veggies, diced tomato, sauce, and most of the cheese and mix well. Sprinkle leftover cheese on top and bake for 30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
  4. Allow to cool for five minutes, serve, and enjoy!

You could easily add some chicken in the there if you wanted to add meat. Hope you'll enjoy it :)
